Last time I rode a motorcycle across Kansas it was wet and windy. You guessed it. Same thing today. Weather forecast called for mild weather...they missed it. Leaving Emporia this morning Clements was my first stop along HWY 50. Knocked on the door. Don't think anyone has been home for a long time. Beautiful old buildings.
Mile after mile along the road the reminders of early western attempts of homesteading dot the landscape.
Short detour north to Marquette, KS for a stop at the Kansas Motorcycle museum. A hiddengem on the Kansas plains. The museum is a tribute to a local boy from Marquette.
Kickstand down in Lindsborg, KS tonight. Have a room at a small restored hotel. What a nice experience to know these types of places still exist. BTW: Nancy told me last night on the phone "you need to do a selfie". So here it is...Highway 50, Kansas, wind, rain...oh...sorry...forgot to wipe the smile off my face.
live free, ride free, Carlan
